Hotel and Catering School
The Secondary School for Hotel and Catering wants to equip the students with all the expert knowledge and competence which is necessary for professionalism. At the same time general education is enhanced and broadened. The Secondary School for Hotel and Catering starts after the eighth grade. 3 spezialisations available:
- foreign languages: English and French (or Italian) starting with the first class. Students learn to use the language both in everyday and professional situations – written and spoken.
- gastronomy: an intensified practical training focussing on the preparation of dishes and courses, professional serving and expert advice on corresponding beverages.
- sports and organized entertainment: students achieve knowledge and skills about various kinds of sports. The aim is to motivate others to do sports, to demonstrate movements and to enable others to practice sports. A further aspect of this education is to convince people of the importance of physical fitness.
Qualification as management assistant in hotel and hospitality
- replaces apprenticeship of various professions like restaurant expert, cook, hotel and gastronomy assistant, office clerk
- successful graduation of the Secondary School for Hotel and Catering includes the professional qualification to run a restaurant.
- After four years of relevant professional experience qualification to start a travel agency without exam.
Practical training during summer break
A practical training of a period of 12 weeks in a tourism-related establishment is compulsory for all students during the summer break after the first and the second class.
